Pop Brixton

About us

Pop Brixton is an original project that supports local jobs, training, and enterprise.

It is a community initiative designed to drive progress and bring prosperity to local communities through enterprise. Pop Brixton transformed a disused plot of land into a pioneering space that showcases the most exciting independent businesses from Brixton and Lambeth, providing a unique destination that supports them to set up shop and share space, skills and ideas.

As well as providing the space local businesses need to thrive, we work with our members to make a positive difference in the community. We all invest our time and skills into charitable projects, we provide free space for community events of every kind, and we host regular open workshops ranging from kids' art classes to horticulture training in our community garden.

This is a temporary project, delivered in partnership between Pop Brixton and Lambeth Council, and is currently planned to remain in place until 2022. Carl Turner Architects are the designers of Pop Brixton.

On Friday, Saturday and Bank Holiday Sunday's we are an over 18 venue from 6pm. Persons under 18 years old will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian after 6pm. ID will be required.

We love dogs at Pop Brixton and are very excited to meet your four legged friends, however on the weekends we don't allow dogs at the venue after 8pm.

Our Members

Pop Brixton is now home to 55 independent businesses including restaurants, retailers, makers, street food traders, designers, digital start-ups, a community barbershop, a youth radio station and several social enterprises.

We aren’t here to give high street brands another storefront. All our members are independents, most come from Brixton and Lambeth and many of them are start-ups entering their first permanent premises.

We’re here to support the little guys with the big ideas.

Our community

At the heart of our project is a focus on supporting and engaging our community. So as well as providing space for local businesses, we work hard to get involved in positive projects in the area.

We offer discounted rents to social enterprises and total start-ups who need space to get their business off the ground.

All our members use their time and skills to support local causes, investing at least 1 hour each week into a Community Investment Scheme managed by The Brixton Pound. Through this partnership we are constantly working with local schools, charities and community organisations.

Our event spaces and public areas are available for free hire for community events like meetings, fundraisers and workshops.

To help us make a positive impact we are guided by a steering group of local residents, business owners and community figures.

Pop Farm

Pop Farm

Pop Farm is an urban growing project bringing a community garden into the heart of Brixton.

Its aim is to make gardening more accessible to local people, educating, informing and sharing food growing knowledge in the community. Across our site, we have created a beautiful urban farm, growing decorative plants and fresh herbs, vegetables and other ingredients for use by local people, food businesses and Pop Brixton’s community of caterers.

It also offers education and including professional programmes in horticulture, free workshops with local primary and secondary schools and open weekend workshops for the public to take part in.
