A joint project with The Brixton Pound and Raw Talent, recently saw a group of year 8 Year 10 students from The Elmgreen School spend a week on an innovative work experience programme at Pop Brixton, working with our community of independent entrepreneurs.
The five-day programme saw students spending time shadowing traders at work, attending group masterclasses, and receiving individual mentorship. The theme of the week was a small businesses challenge, exploring the topic of entrepreneurship and giving the students hands-on experience of the world of small businesses from restaurants to barbershops.
The tenants involved were Kricket, Koi Ramen, Queen of the Harpies, Toast Music PR, Brixton's Baddest, L'Amuse Bouche, Reprezent Radio, London Barberhood and more.
Abigail Melville, founder of Raw Talent said, “It’s been wonderful to see these kids enjoying hard work, getting to grips with real business challenges and seeing the reality of running your own business. The business mentors have been fantastic. I have seen some great relationships.
